He's got a great history in the dance world, but what I really love are the mixes he supplies on his site in the media section! Awesome almost non vocal progressive tunes, downloadable for free now 11 pieces each around 2 hours! Love this stuff, specially while working.. just really gets me going, and time flies and cant sit still...

ISOS6 Ibiza | Tiësto

tiestoISOS6.jpg

Couple of weeks ago I got this message from my mate Berend, that he got stuck into In Search Of Sunrise 6 - Ibiza from Tiësto (ps love the comments behind the tracks) and really liked it, now Berend is more of a progressive fan then plain Trance, and I have been a huge fan of the first ISOS, and kind of lost it later... so for him coming back saying this is great, I had to check it out..!!
pff what superb compilation, the vibe is back again, im into Tiësto and not afraid to admit :)... and why is it that im always a favour of CD2 of a multidisk release.

So Im back listening Tiësto again, thanks to Berend.. even tho cant find myself much in many radio releases tho, but thats prolly y they are radio releases.
Ive even add Tiësto to my hyves friends list lol

To get even more into Tiësto, ive subscribed to the Club Live radio program PodCast feed.. and been listening the last 5 episodes of his Radio to PodCast show, and I will keep it up for a long time.. the music he spins here is top quality Trance music, and Im very happy again to get updated on whats going on in the worlds dance scene through the eyes of this mega master!

Hope he comes to Sydney soon, in the mean time i'll spin the cd's another couple of times, and preach the gospel!

Sneaky Sound System

sneakysoundsystem.jpg

This Sydney based band just rocks, and for a dance music group that comes out mainstream pushing song after song into the general top40, its a great pleasure having their tunes broadcasted on the default TV/Radio channels.

Ive seen them live also being warmup for Robbie Williams, and gee.. its great quality happy catchy dance tunes!
Would not be suprised if they rule the world in short time, as they win award after award.

The rapping parts of the songs doesnt really do it for me, but the vocals of Connie Mitchell are just fantastic.. what a great sound!
I believe they are hitting the UK charts now, so hopefully Europe will completely catch on too..

Radiohead-In Rainbows

I just crabbed myself a copy of Radioheads newest released album "In Rainbows".

The beauty of this release is that you can download the album, and you just pay what ever you want to give for it. Being tightass dutch, I just downloaded by filling in $ 0.00 so I didnt need to whip out my CC.

Really hope this is going to be the future for music, and just read on gizmodo.com that Oasis and U2 are going to follow this example... YAY.

Any ways.. im going in again and donate some dollars to this absofuckinlutely brilliant Radiohead Album!
I am in the mood for some tunes like this.. timing couldnt be any better!

Just walk through the process and
download legally from here: www.inrainbows.com
No restrictions - good quality - no DRM shizzle, no fuckin iTunes store shit.. wow!

DANCE VALLEY 2007

dancevalley07.jpg
Yay.. Per goes dance valley! w00000t.. tomorrow 10 am it starts, one of worlds biggest dance parties! Hosting 14 area's and a mega massive DJ list.. ive already set my mind on some old fav's like Erick E and DJ Per :) but would love to see Ferry Corsten and Carl Cox plus Judge Jules.., but hey lets what happens.. lol The theme of this year is Circus! and the set would be filled with those themed attractions and entertainment.

The site is an absolute master piece! It gives a fantastic look on the whole festival and its features with cool virtual tours!
Pls have a look on dancevalley.com
Better get a bit of rest now.. lol

** UPDATE **

DV07mainstage.jpg

} main stage @ final

What a massive festival, had an absolute fantastic time.. The crew i was with were just an absolute ball of fun to hang out with.. tnx guys!
My eye opener musically was DJ Roog, ive always liked his style but, most times he has to much breaks in there.. but now he pulled out a set that was just brilliant...!
I was able to visit Dimitri's set, Carl Cox and obviously Marco V. For me the best place was the "Defected in the house" Stage (5). The final at the main stage was magic too with Paul van Dyk and MC Marxman gathered with if it was sold out 43.000 people.

Robbie Williams

We had tickets for U2, but we needed four tickets and only got two.. so we gave those tickets to Scott and Lisa (brother Ally). I arranged tickets for Kylie before the breast cancer incident, and now she started performing again, I could have gone to that.. but decided its more a girlie thingy so I gave my ticket away.. funny thing was that my tickets got selected to also use the VIP Lounge.

Last week i got an email from Christel, who I’ve never met but know she and her husband are Dutch and living in Sydney. Christel is a make-up artist, and Ally got her make-up done by Christel for some profi photos for work.. and you know how girls talk.. anyway I got the email address from Christel to get some DutchLinks :)
The email was send to all Christels friends who she thought be interested in tickets for Robbie Williams.

Christel just had a little baby girl, and wanted to give her 2 tickets up.
I emailed back on the spot, and got the tickets.. :)
So today at 5 Ally and I are going to see "The Entertainer" Live!
Tnx Christel !

WOLFMOTHER

wolfmother.jpg

I know I know .... i go from one music end to another, but hey you like it or you dont right.. to meet at the other end, for quite some time now the band wolfmother (dot com), is topping the charts here in aussie. I've no idea in other parts of the world where they sit, but I can imagine they will be on the top almost everywhere.

This 3 piece Aussie outfit produce such a fantastic rock sound, that many put them in the same stream as Led Zepplin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath.. or other bands from that time.

Psychedelic rock they say.. anyways, the sound is pure, ... very pure, and the songs ooo so kewl.. even the artwork on the covers and the website show what they are made off.
pls give them some attention and listen to them.. I'm pretty sure they will be all over the world very soon.

For Those Who Like To Groove

top_image.jpg

I've been collecting the mixes from this radio show for a couple of years now, and I've seen and I know I'm not the only one with this dutch radio show as highlight in the past of house music.
Back in 1992, this radio show was THE show you had to listen, and I remember after the show was finished (10:00pm), we hopped on the train to get to one of the parties mentioned in the show like PARKZICHT Rotterdam, or MultiGroove in Amsterdam (sloterdijk) etc. A strong memory I had with the broadcast of Speedy J, and later that night or rather that morning they spun almost the same set in MultiGroove.. sooo good!
The first part of the show was full of new trax and gigs etc, but the second half was most of the time a guest DJ live mixing in the studio. The radio show only lasted one year, and rumours are that the show got booted by the broadcaster (AVRO) due to a way to smoke filled studio sessions with Robin and his guests (think Netherlands, what comes after the clogs..;).
The mixing in those days wasnt always top notch but for sure the show had some, then already famous dj's, whom are now more classified as legends in House music LIVE in the studio.. and some DJ's did some amazing stuff on those analoge and ancient decks and mixers.

jaydee.jpgI had most of the mixes on tape but as time went on those tapes didnt survive my moving and/or stupid mistakes.. :P
A couple of years ago I started searching for those mixes, as I saw the name Robin Albers aka DJ JayDee somewhere popping up, as he was the main host of the show, what triggered my memory... After a couple of flashbacks I started my search..
In my search i did find some Oldskool sites whom had some mixes because they liked a certain DJ, and many people all over the world didnt know about the radio show, but had the from tape converted mp3 of that DJ, like DJ Richie Hawtin. There was one Oldskool site at that time who was talking about the For Those Who Like To Groove mixes, and was holding some lists with dates and names etc..

dano.jpg
I think I was up to around 20 mixes collected, most of my personal hero's like DJ Per :), and DJ Dano (then not so hardcore as now), DJ Buzz Fuzz, and the incredible end of the mix from DJ Gizmo.. and many many more of my early house upbringing hero's.
One of my favorite mix was from a female DJ Mutiara, or the mix from DJ Bart from Barocci, DJ Quinten de Rosario
.. but there are many more I liked and listened over and over again back in those days.

Yesterday I did a search again as my list didnt got any longer... and what does google give me....

H00YAH YESSSS !!

A For Those Who Like To Groove website !
Whoa, the desire fire struck some more people then before.. (I couldnt imagine it wouldnt anyway..).
After browsing on the forum they referred to a site who was uploading the mixes with dates and names to rapid share, and I think with a little patience we soon have a full list with the correct mixes of this legendary show, with a kewl history of some big cornerstones of DJ-ing.

Although some mixes are not so high sound quality, because they come from tape with the old speed probs etc, it is an absolute pleasure if you like house music, and those little hiccups for me gives the mix more atmosphere of that time..

Go ahead try some.. I'm sure most mixes will even fit modern times and alse you'll find the tracks and beats new DJ's use these days as sample or foundation for current compilations.
Also this type of Oldskool aint OLD.. its timeless.. (well to me it is.. )

Notebook as MP3 player

uksmall.jpgEverywhere I go I have my notebook with me, and yes I've got a big pile of MP3's on it.. but most of all I want to listen to my daily subscribed RSS feeds with PodCasts so I have radio on demand automaticly chucked on my HD for in the morning when I drive to work.
Problem is, I just don't want to pay money for a device like whatever iPod that limits you in your freedom by using iTunes or other brands like apple that have there own squeezy software. It just shits me that with alot of those MP3 players, you can't just use the MP3 player as a piece of multifunctional data drive. Sure there out there, and are very good flexible alternatives...
But like I said, if you already carry a notebook why should you.. right?! Ok ok.. its not a convenient running mp3 device, or to take around the golf course slash driving range etc. But it 'll do fine in the car, train etc.. All you have to do is change the Power Settings when you use an OS like XP, in the Control Panel. Just set the HD settings to always on, and in Advanced you can set the action to "Do nothing" for what happens when you close the lid! There you go, with massive storage and most of your MP3's.
If you have a cassette player in your car, you can buy those cassette's to blast through your speakers, or you use your external input if your have! These days with all the bluetooth handsfree sets, the cops won't really notice you are using your earplugs for music also..

Happy listening!

The Cat Empire

The Cat Empire - Two Shoes 2005

Two Shoes

Editors choice: #1 - Sly

The Cat Empire - The Cat Empire 2003

The Cat Empire

ps ik ben geen cd's aan het verkopen ofzo.. vond dit zo goed, moest ut weer ffies kwijt.
