Euro 2008 live

Watch Euro Cup 2008 live online via:
freelivevoetbal.nl

Good list of different types of programs to use and languages/channels to choose from per game.
Also choose the application to view it with. I was already using SobCast and TVU player, but there are couple more to choose from.

YesTV SobCast
stream did the NED1 broadcast for the already legendary NETHERLANDS vs ITALY game, so I could enjoy the game complete with dutch commentary (Frank Snoeks - Tom Egberts - Johan Cruijff etc) and vibe! :) what a cracker of a game!!

Parallels Desktop 3.0

Forget the previous post about setting Mac OS to read NTFS with the little plugin I talked about earlier. THE tool to run multiple operating system is besides obviously bootcamp, (comes with MacOS) is virtual machine software like PARALLELS or VMware Fusion.

parallels.jpg

Ive been working with Parallels now for a week running my XP installation done with bootcamp, and i am a very happy chap now.

Besides the easy way of grabbing and altering files on the NTFS partition, I can run now all my windows applications inside MacOS and visa versa in XP. It even has some support for OpenGL and DirectX to run a small selection of games through the Virtual machine (no LFS *Sigh*). My first revelation was working in MacOS in Photoshop and having my Winamp (i hate iTunes) streaming my fav tunes through Parallels as an application running in my "dock" (task bar). Next was the impressive switching from windowed view to full screen XP, bit like turning a cube (like switching users in MacOS).

You can run the apps in a VM window or set the apps to run coherence (as they belong to MacOS), and it has great support for USB devices, like external HD's and camera's etc.
It hasnt installed my build in webcam actually, missed that one doing skype through parallels, but that can run in MacOS self anyway.

Besides XP you can run many other operating systems like Linux distri's or Vista etc on multiple Virtual Machines.

Going to try VMware Fusion also, they say it has a lot more grunt (runs faster) then Parallels.. lets see about that.

SE Alarm in off mode

logo_sony_ericsson.jpg

My friend Vicky told me this great feature of my SE w800i phone, and im sure many other phones have the same feature, but I really really like it!

When you use your phone alarm to wake up or anything else you need it for, my phone doesnt need to be on for it to start ringing in the morning. No worries about ur battery, just set alarm and turn your phone off.
Try if yours has it.. very helpfull little feature to make life tiny bit better :)

Facebook.com

Its really happening now, Per is also on facebook.com.. dont know how to categorize facebooks, but i have the slight feeling this is way more global spread then the hyves from holland :)

Funny again, after I made an account for my mate Mark, the people just started rolling in who I never thought who would be on there... really interesting, and good to have a new link with them.

It looks kinda boring for a start but facebooks, has a massive list of applications that you can use.. it really exceeds hyves. You can play games with each other, give gifts have an aquarium, be a Vampire you name it.... over 1000 applications you can use in your facebooks.
Havent seen you can customize your profile in style, but you can easily through your apps and fields around.

I hooked up my blog with the app flogblog, and was surprised with the settings I was able to pull my rss feed in from DUIJNUNDER.com.

Anyway lets see how this goes! :)

You have to make an account in order to view the contents of facebook :) sorry!

skype me up buddy!

skype_logo-733511.png
Now im back in Australia, looking for proper communication, I started using skype again. Ive used skype ages ago a couple of times, and it just didnt do it for me at that time. But now.. OMFG, this is superb stuff! Just finished a great chat with my lovely Sil, and my parents on our crappy internet connection in Aus (512/1536 shared by 6 ppl), with full screen webcam view (640x480). Tried todo this with MSN many times before but its just too crappy.. skype just deals with this very well and distibutes very good quality, and way less drop-outs. This is also so much better versus the normal phone.. and its still FREE ! YAY! /me love free. lol

skype me up if you want on skype name "pervanduijn"

ps.
If you still have my old one in your list (cloggie_in_oz) please delete!

talk & see u soon! :)

JRuler

Before I talked about DevToolbar, well that can be a bit much for the average user.
If you quickly want to measure something on your screen in whateva format, you can use this little nifty tool called JRuler.

Hang a shortcut in your Quick Launch bar and voila always ready.

JRuler
Download file (142KB)

I tell you what, it has more features and clever useful ways to use then you think.

Tnx to Brian again!

TVU

tvu.jpg
I was browsing for a online tv stream showing the A1GP last weekend, as my old stream doesnt show it anymore. I didnt found a stream showing the A1GP live at that time.. but I did find this nice little application called TVU player from TVU Networks.

This is a beta test player from this company, I think they are trying to get ready for good bandwidth times so they can sell the TV channels all over the world.
For now its free, and its a little application to download, and without any fancy stuff your on your way watching more then 40 channels like FOX usa, ESPN 1 + 2, Animal Planet, CBS, ABC even Al Jazeera is in there.. There are tons of sport channels, also many music channels.. and my favorite one the Comedy Channel :)
You can leave the screen in the little window or view almost full screen.

tvuplayer.jpg

I have no idea how long it will be free, and yes its a beta version + not all channels display very correctly.. but hey its getting there.

I'm pretty sure when I find some timetables and convert them to Aussie time I would be able to catch the race on one of those channels, lets hope for the best.
