2 cards
Another 2 cards in for the "corner club", and a big reality check.. still sitting on 25, today the short game fell to pieces and last week we played on newly cord greens, and just couldnt get the normal puts going.
We did play on some stunning courses along the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Last sunday we played on Mona Vale Golf Club, and today we played on the nearby Long Reef.

Mona Vale is a very though course with very big water area's and also very strong tree lines. Course management is a must, and although many holes look you can rip your driver down the fairway, you mostly end up with a tough hook or draw to play to reach ur destination. But a great pleasure to play, and the back nine gives you a nice sea breeze as refreshment.

Long reef is a Links course, not many trees and built on a cliff towards the sea. It has a very own style to it, and has some nice old "St Andrews" characteristics
The wind is always the extra factor, and today there was plenty. The greens were lightning fast, prolly the fastest I ever played on.. Although u can miss a fairway or two and would be able to get back, the course really has some very nasty traps embedded.
Next week we play North Bridge again, the aka the Goat track.. atleast ive been there now.
Lookin forward to play again.

Visa App
Fingers crossed now, with a slight *cough* delay from my part I send off my permanent resident visa application to the Australian Immigration Office!
I should have taken a copy of my previous entry for temp/spouse Visa that went to Berlin. That would have saved me a lot of hassle and puzzling out dates and times of whereabouts again.
I didnt want to ask my parents yet to dig into my pile of boxes and other leftbehinds on their attic to find the copies, so I had to put in some estimates.. hope it'll be alright.
This next step in the visa application, is all about proving the relationship still exists, and if i have been a good boy here in Australia!
Cassa (Ally's sister), and Gwen (Ally's mum) were kind enough to be my references. My friend Wayne was kind enough to be a reference too, but thought it would be better to have people who know both sides of the story.... lol
Hopefully everything can be processed in one go, without to many problems!

FF #1 VI.219
After many seasons finishing in the top, my Hattrick team f34Rf4cT0rY finally took home the #1 seat.
The finish had to be decided in the last match of this season, The Curacao Marlins our ongoing strong rival was down 1 point on the leader board, meaning a draw was enough to secure the #1 spot. Although we tried to bring home the victory with a victory the clash ended in a pointless draw, not really showing the fierce battle that had occurred.
f34Rf4cT0rY now has the opportunity to qualify for Div. V in the Dutch competition, but seeing the strength and the lack of managers time for the team it'll be wise not to promote. We'll prolly stay another season in this very competitive Div VI.219
Anyway gr8 result, finally something to hold on to..
CHAMPAGNE *PLOP*

1year no smoking

Whoa, I've made it.. one full year no smoking! Ok ok.. my weight is a bit up.. (almost 15kg lol), but feel so much better for it!
Things taste better, I feel a lot better during basketball (every Thursday), and no more running out the house in panic cuz almost no siggies..
My biggest fear was, what would I do with my hands if I dont smoke.. I mean smoking gave me a posture, an activity during converstions etc. Now that was the biggest surprise, I never think about that in those situations..
Finally im on the other side, and can smell how smokers have this smelly smoke cloud around them even when they dont have a siggie.
Going out is also no problem, its even better i think as I can hold my alcohol better plus I dont feel so lame in them mornings, sure when you go overboard drinking still get the headache etc, but still its less foggy.
Still some times I get the urge, but then I easily can control with "But I dont smoke anymore,.. YAY" !
That deserves a drink ! lol hmmpff..

Golf & Poker, Busy Day
Busy day tomorrow .. but a very interesting one, 2 of my new aquired hobby's sinds ive come to Australia
Poker (Texas Hold'm) and Golf (As straight as possible :P)
After that its straight to the poker finals @ freeway hotel Artarmon
This years New South Wales winner for the NPL gets produced by a two day showdown, done the "World Poker Tour" way.

There are 8 venues, and they all play till the magic number of the day is reached. As these tourneys are like every other knockout based without rebuys, after hours of play there is a final, lets say 400 left from I think atleast 1200 finalists. Then they say.. STOP PLAYING, and they do a chip count. I believe every1 starts with 2000 in chips.. and you just have to survive the day with that to reach the final day.
Because there are more venues that play you have more top 5's of those venues that are participating. Last season it was around 800 finalist of NSW (600 turned up).
The blinds (compulsory bets, every one gets at his/her turn) will go up every half hour i guess.
My game is a bit unfortunate at the moment, so hopefully I'll find some more live cards tomorrow!
Im sure I'll have to fight the sleep, after a full round of golf, so I've got my W800i walkman phone armed with a 2GB memory stick, loaded with kewl traxx and some poker also to kill the time when not getting good cards to play :)
**** UPDATE ****
Hmm.. as excited as the day was, ended pretty non rewarding.. put another bad card in for golf, but hey.. better then NorthBridge, and towards the end I did play 5 pars in a row.
So the good thing about a bad card, is when they estimate my handicap, and I start playing a bit more how I think.. watch this, how I THINK :) i can play, prolly win the comp every week for a little while :)
But Im better of laying that to rest, cuz this aint really cards im proud of.. grr
After that I barely made the poker event, every1 was already started but they fit me in.
In my first two hands I took one guy out, he must be livid.. I mean here is this dude rockin up late then the first two hands I take him out.
After that I stayed alive not gaining and slightly loosing till the last 50 of the 180 were left.
They already announce they gonna do the stop at 43 players left, and they would go to the next day.
I lost one little hand, so I was back to 2500 in chips.. I figured, when I go to the other event I wanna go bigger then 2500 in chips, as its a 1.5 hour drive to that Sunday event... plus I can't play golf that morning, I wanted to make it a bit more worth while.
I pulled another guy in my "all inn" as the flop connected me with the 10 and there was already 7000 in the pot, so this was it... yes or no.
The river came (last card), another diamond (4 diamonds on the board).. giving every one with a diamond the flush, so despite being leader from flop till fourth turn, my jack of diamonds wasnt enough as my opponent had the queen.
Unlucky but thats poker.. and quite honestly, thats my game at the moment... making the most out of any situation I can think of, then getting booted on a situation like that.
My mate Nick, who came 2nd in Carlingford made the decision to stay in.. so did a couple of others of the venue I play in.. I wish them good luck.
The good thing is I guess they got my poker table ready as they asked for my address to ship it too :)

Handicap?
In a couple of hours I tee off for my first card to calculate my official handicap for golf.
After 2 years of playing unofficial, trying to get a game in its time to see what all those hours have for result.
Alex hooked me up with the "Corner Club", this is a socialclub that play's every saturday morning on different courses through out Sydney North Coast. This socialclub calculates the handicap through golflink.com.au.
This morning, Tee off time is 5.30 AM.... whut!, yea.. 5.30.. and as I said in a couple of hours I tee off, I'm already up. I tried to get some sleep.. but going to bed at 10pm isnt my cup of thee.
We play at Northbridge this morning, and I've never played there, so lets see what all these factors have for result on my first scorecard.
If i'm right they take my first 3 cards to calculate my handicap, so in 3 weeks we will know.
What GOLF handicap will i score?? any guesses?
*** UPDATE ***
Wow that was a very tough course, what the picture doesnt show its built on a cliff that drops like 200 mtrs.
I was completely exhausted after a round, and have seen almost every OB (Out of Bounce) out there, I lost 4 balls on this course.
They gave me a handicap of 25, and with that I scored 31 points on stableford scoring.
Although it was tough, I really liked the course.. one of the most challenging ive played on.
One card in..
