DevToolBar

The Microsoft DevToolBar - Are you a web developer?, do you have to check, review or create web applications or plain web sites, the DevToolBar from Microsoft is the tool to have.. Switch screensizes, look up tables or DIV's, validate your CSS or HTML on the fly, measure distances or use the DOM explorer to highlight your or others work.
I mean the hardest job is making your work function in al those browsers out there with different ways of rendering your work. Atleast the DevToolBar gives you an easier way of looking for the problem.. you still have to find it yourself obviously! :P

If Beta2 doesnt scare you away tho.. lol

Microsoft - DevToolBar

Overview:
The Internet Explorer Developer Toolbar provides several features for exploring and understanding Web pages. These features enable you to:

-- Explore and modify the document object model (DOM) of a Web page.
-- Locate and select specific elements on a Web page through a variety of techniques.
-- Selectively disable Internet Explorer settings.
-- View HTML object class names, ID's, and details such as link paths, tab index values, and access keys.
-- Outline tables, table cells, images, or selected tags.
-- Validate HTML, CSS, WAI, and RSS Web feed links.
-- Display image dimensions, file sizes, path information, and alternate (ALT) text.
-- Immediately resize the browser window to a new resolution.
-- Selectively clear the browser cache and saved cookies. Choose from all objects or those associated with a given domain.
-- Choose direct links to W3C specification references, the Internet Explorer team weblog (blog), and other resources.
-- Display a fully featured design ruler to help accurately align and measure objects on your pages.

The Developer Toolbar can be pinned to the Internet Explorer browser window or floated separately.

This Beta 2 version of the toolbar contains functionality and stability enhancements over previous versions and includes the following improvements.

-- You can now selectively enable and disable CSS parsing.
-- The Misc menu contains a color picker.
-- Several link reports are available.
-- When you select an element in the DOM element tree list, the selected element scrolls into view if it is not already visible in the browser window.

Tnx to Brian from Silicon Control!

A1GP Zandvoort

After a very successful last season, the A1GP is ready to start this weekend the 06/07 season, with a nice new addition to the tracks,.. yes location The Netherlands, Zandvoort!
This was great news, when I heard it.. also last season I really really enjoyed the dutch teams effort in the master of motor sports. Finishing just outside the top 3 in this new league is a very good result. But most of all I loved seeing Jos Verstappen driving again...and I mean Jos driving, Jos Style™!
A1GP_0607.jpg
As I was getting ready to see how to view the race here, as last year it only got broadcast live through paytv, and the day after a short review on FreeToAir tv, I got the message that Jos pulled out.. grrrrrr.. WTF!

Link:
nu.nl - jos a1gp

Again I am a Jos fan... but I will rephrase my view, as this is happening to much for being a Jos fan in my level. Throughout his whole F1 career, there are more of these kind of disappointments, and don't get me wrong as it aint always Jos his fault or the managements fault, its more the situation.
My gut feeling is Huub Rothengather (Jos Manager), is a bit the "all-in" type on the poker table, I mean there is no meet in the middle or see where we can meet, its all or nothing kinda style...

Jos has done a great deal for A1GP, and the A1GP itself acknowledged him as the most interesting driver.. seeing his actions on the track he is the real driver out there, not the lap robot.
Also a big reason for A1GP comming to The Netherlands, has in my opinion a great deal todo with Jos the Boss.

But who knows.. I mean this situation is about getting paid to late.. and you have to stand your grand when you warn and beg for a complete year to pay on time.
Anyways.. doesnt matter.. very disappointed, and I will rephrase my "Jos fan" status to, "Jos fan - when he actually is racing".
:P

Team Netherlands will go ahead without Jos, which is good for young and new talent from the Dutch wet and most below sea-level ground, and I am sure we have enough.. as now Jeroen Bleekemolen will drive the Dutch A1GP car, en he will do a good job at that no doubt.
So good luck guys.. but sad not to see Jos drive.

Scorpio

I still have a couple of pictures made in the nearby past from close encounters with some of Australia's creatures, or sometimes rather classified as fierce creatures :). As grown up in Holland the most fierce creature would be a 30 cm tops little grass snake, or one of the mad cows.. but here around Sydney, especially in the bushy Hornsby surroundings, everywhere you look there are some funny or very interesting creatures.

(photo shot with SE w800i camera phone)
So also the other day when I was late at the driving range, and the lights were on, and I see something moving near my foot..
I dont think I had tofear for my life in that situation, as this little fellow was really really tiny, as in just bigger than a normal size matchbox.. but anyways another tick in the wish list box of fierce creatures that I would like to see in the wild.. (urban wildish :), the scorpio!

See here my other encounters:

IE6

error.jpg
Aii.. yesterday evening late, I've found out that the complete right side (categories etc) gets pushed all the way down of this site in IE6 (Internet Explorer 6), of all browsers I didnt expect IE6 to be the problem child :P.
I dont know for how long this problem is there, as just before launch it wasnt there. I'm sure its a margin issue so I will have a look later tonight (its now morning here).
I put some nice fancy borders around the pictures yesterday night, so maybe thats the problem..

IE7 (currently using), and firefox are no problem!

sorry for the inconvenience .. hope to fix it asap.

If someone who is using Internet Explorer 6, can tell me if the categories where always down, or just after today, that'll help !

Cheers

*** UPDATE ***
Allright should be fixed now, gave mid section 2 pixs both sides that did the trick, IE6 is still adding up.. tnx DunkeleVati for checking !

WOLFMOTHER

wolfmother.jpg

I know I know .... i go from one music end to another, but hey you like it or you dont right.. to meet at the other end, for quite some time now the band wolfmother (dot com), is topping the charts here in aussie. I've no idea in other parts of the world where they sit, but I can imagine they will be on the top almost everywhere.

This 3 piece Aussie outfit produce such a fantastic rock sound, that many put them in the same stream as Led Zepplin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath.. or other bands from that time.

Psychedelic rock they say.. anyways, the sound is pure, ... very pure, and the songs ooo so kewl.. even the artwork on the covers and the website show what they are made off.
pls give them some attention and listen to them.. I'm pretty sure they will be all over the world very soon.

Still at work

gasadd.jpg Pff.. wow, what a week this week..and the last couple of weeks.. got a couple of nice e-mails, thanks for that.. very happy with them.
I've been working almost straight at the interface for the application for silicon controls, and I think I'm heading in the right direction with little and gr8 steering from the people at silicon control.

gaslogpreview1a.jpg
I've been creating my own set of icons for this program, I will post my full set of icons maybe later, when there is no danger of some1 ripping them, as I got a google hit on my previous post.. so... ssst. (thats why I post only half pictures of my work.. ) I'm very happy with the result I'm getting and the guys at the office so far react good also. This monday it'll be the next presentation day and I will show what i made so far.. hope for the best, but then again, I really think I hit the right spot on this.
I've also spiced up the the look from previous idea for the total program, as some questions or comments pushed the limit up anyway.

Re: DUIJNUNDER.com update.
Thanks all for the nice comments and e-mails, most appriciated.
This whole week i've been seeing so much stuff I wanna change about DUIJNUNDER.com, that when I got a spare moment I will continue what I started. I now also added a catagory template, so the catagory views will get the full skin.

Hopefully the weather is good tomorrow, so I can get a game of golf in... sticks are getting to much rest this way.. lol

The last weeks I worked on and off on the new version of DUIJNUNDER, as v1.2.4 was made before firefox made it big, and my coding wasnt really great. There is still a lot i want to change and add to the site, but better go live now, as busy times arrive again.. so I can use it as portfolio for my work also..

Ive seen a couple of errors already (mainly margin), and will touch them up asap, but for now enjoy the new duijnunder.

Ive picked up also a view templates for comments and archive, still got a couple more to do.. so beware u wont get this pretty face everyware yet..

Ive tested the site in:
- IE 7.0 (best)
- IE 6x
- Firefox 1.5x (some margin changes)
- Opera has some errors in header

I wonder what the site looks like in Safari, and other mac/unix - linux based inviroments.

Pls dont hessitate to leave a comment, if you find any problems.. or wanna share your opinion.

DUTCH F1 TEAM

spyker.jpg

Wow, this is fantastic news... the dutch car company Spyker, has bought the Midland F1 team. (former Jordan).

A dutch F1 team.. can you believe it ? !

They also signed as technical director Mike Gascoyne (Jordan, Renault, Toyota). And as Midland F1 was building a car for 2007, the gossip is now it will have the V8 Ferrari engine in the Spyker MF1.. well lets see about that later.

Hopefully they will put 2 dutch drivers on (VERSTAPPEN!!!)
.. and hopefully they can close the gap at the back of the grid to be a more competitive team. But that we will see in 2007 i think..

FEAR COMBAT

Did u enjoy the single player version of F.E.A.R. ?, well here is the multiplayer version.. F.E.A.R. combat.. now the good thing about this version is that it is FREE, and I'm not really surprised, as sierra has a lot to learn about online gameplay aparently.. its very buggy and it doesnt bring much very news. The Capture The Flag missions are in my opinion the best in this game.. due to the nice maps, the rest is pure rampage. The weapon choice is nice, the balance in those weapons is alright done. If you want to play the first Unreal Tournament (IMO) in a FEAR enviroment than now you can, and for free... If it doesnt start properly, then you probably have a problem with one of m$'s security patches, and some dudes on the forum from fear suggest to uninstall the security patch.. Aaargggh! pls dont... uninstall FEAR combat and try again. (also try every shortcut to the game) There are quite some servers out there to join, .. so if you are looking to entertain yourself for a little while give it a go.. u have to register to get the free CD key on the site.

To me it had a little tiny bit Counterstrike idea, as in the speed of the play in the Death Matches, but doesnt come near the gameplay, only some nice graphics and entertaining maps.

Gaslog

gaslogbg.jpg
I'm on a new project at the moment, and it is a very interesting one. I work for a company called Silicon Control, who develop and sell software and hardware to monitor the levels of gas and water tanks etc. In example they sell the products to gas companies whom hold 1 to 100+ and even 1000+ gas stations to measure and maintain the levels of the main tanks, so they can see when to send the truck out for refilling etc.

They’ve got a couple of ways to retrieve the data, by radio transmitter that is hooked up to another device on the phone line, and today I've attended a meeting that showed a great new and flexible technologie to send the data across.
They've developed everything themselves and the products are used all over the world.

My dear friend Wayne (Vision golf balls) told one of our basketball team members what I've done for logoballs.com.au (tnx buddy), and so "Tony" who i've been playing basketball with now for the second season, invited me to his company to see if I can do some work for them.
They have made a program (gaslog) that harvests all the data, and pushes all the info and options forward onto the screen.
And now they are developing a web based version of some services they have for the costumers.
The last couple of days I’ve worked hard to give theirs in asp.net written web application some fresh new looks.

Today I did my presentation on my work, and its an all a "go forward deal".
They are going to use my User Interface (UI) idea for the application. YEAH!
I'm am first off all, most proud to work with these people as they are very knowledgeable and interesting people (all engineers), and also that my work is going to be published onto a great program that will be distributed all over the world.

gaslogpreview.jpg
(sneak preview of my design) To my knowledge also the Dutch based "Primagas" works with their software and hardware. I work closely and very pleasant with Tony as Director of the company and Brian the developer of the program. PS. The top logo image I quickly recreated from the existing gaslog logo as background for my presentation, and now the other director wants to use it to.. lol
