Mawer v2.0 no IE6

bartonmawer_v2.jpg

Ive done a major overhaul to bartonmawer.com, the template got severely reconstructed.
Besides the graphic update its, now its possible to use both side bars on demand, and Ive embedded "user1" (see the "no ie6 banner" position) and "user2" in the main section assignable through the back-end, plus the navigation bar and the sponsorbar are customizable too through the CMS.

*-- cut no ie6 support - new post here: duijnunder.com/blog/coding/no_more_ie6_sup

sublime sleep

Alright, my cleanest design ever is online and kicking.. first of all the product sold in the site is truly amazing, its soft and always stays in shape. Never ever you have to fluf your pillow up before you lay down ur head.

sublimesleeponline.jpg
! -- beware double dutch only at the moment...

www.sublimesleep.nl

The whole thing was coded according to my design in NL, then came back for final touch up.
It will grow in the couple months as its pretty empty at the moment, but first have to get some feel of what is going to happen with it.

bartonmawer.com

Still a lot of work todo, but as of today my newest creation went live: www.bartonmawer.com. YAY

bartonmawer_v1.2.jpg
I will continue working on the site, as I still havent reached the style I was looking for content wise. And I will make some extra graphics to spice things up a bit, plus now when I filled the site up, it starts opening up new areas I want to touch up. Also will add some modules to the site, like a contact form, newsflash, photo gallery etc.

We had to go online just in time for the Australian grandprix in Melbourne where Barton has 4 races in the Australian Porsche Carrera Cup.

The site runs on Joomla 1.5 CMS and ive built a template from scratch to fit my design, what was an interesting adventure on its own, and still needs some attention here and there :) But ive been able to do the whole thing on my own, and im pleased with that!

The site is tested and runs good on:
IE 7.0.5
Opera 9.01
Firefox 2.0.0.12
Safari (win) 3.0.3 - u gotta love the graphics rendering :)

If someone spots problems please let me know the browser and version.

Barton himself has been an absolute champ in delivering content, photo's and logo's plus he's been superb in communication! Good luck this weekend mate hope you get the top 5 now!

Loansmiths v1

Just finished first preview for a great new project im working on for Loansmiths. I am trying to aim for more of a portal type front, that will enable the customers of loansmiths to access all features of the site quickly and organized. The biggest challenge is to make it function that way, yet making it look nice and clean.
As this is my first try its going to be a small preview :)

loansmithsv1.jpg

The colours and fonts are chosen by the customer, for start I thought it was going to be hard job to make them work, but in this design I think it really works very well.

Barton Mawer site

bm1.jpg

Just finished creating a temporarily under construction page for Barton Mawer, and now going to work on the rest of the site. His old site needed desperately a refresh.
Barton Mawer is a very talented race driver, and has been driving in many different car classes, like Formula 3 here and in Europe, but also last season was test driver for the Australian team in the A1GP!

porschecarrera-gt3.jpg

This season '08 Barton started driving in the Australian Porsche Carrera Cup (GT3), and has a very good package to do well as debutant in this new class.
Its already been very great working with Barton, very helpful and straight down the line plus good communication level, so no doubt this is going to a super project for me.

Aussie Design

Vision wanted to show the audience that their product was designed by and in Australia, as that means quite a lot.

ausssied_over.jpg

So I climbed into my digital drawing board.. and came up with a view version and after a healthy and always important "tug of war" about what to achieve with the customer "vision", in most cases Mr. Wayne Bosley responsible of design & development, Australia had to look more Australian, but original enough to stay away from already out there versions.
Potential was there in the designs, but none of them were winners, and so I left it for a couple of days.. et Voila! Meet final result..

aussied_final.jpg

Really came again to a good result with Wayne, and again it took some persistence of both.. nice job!
Whipped up a 3d version for the site also:

Golf Mag Ad

One of my Full page Ad was released in Australian Golf Magazine this month. They’ve put the ad in the Golf Ball Promotion section for the year, and wrapped it with a black border, just after the Wilson Staff and the Titleist NXT + Extreme on a full last page of the section!

golfmag1.jpg

Being completely different than all other ads and IMO killing the other ads with the gfx :P, this ad worked out really well, and with the border it works also.. YAY, very happy!

Vision Ad

For me as a web dude, converting my work from 72 dpi RGB to 300 dpi CMYK was a huge but interesting step with bleed :P. But the result is there my first printed Ad in a newspaper for Vision! YAY!

VisiAdv1.jpg

Thanks to Wayne also for finding the right balance in the Ad, we are happy to capture and present the vibe that we want to put out to all Vision players.

VisiAdv2thumb.jpg

And I'm just darn proud to see my graphics shine in a newspaper like that!

Ps. There is a full page glossy ad coming up in a golf magazine :)

forum.fastlan.nl

A few weeks ago, Frank and i decided to pull the plug and end an era... forum.fastlan.nl is no more.
In the glory days forum.fastlan.nl had a small group of friends connected to LANtasy who swung by to post on this forum, headed with my fraper logo, and given life by me, Frank and many others. As the forum didnt got used anymore and only got heavily penetrated by spam we 've decided to erase the board.

forumfastlanbeforeremove.jpg

Along with some good memories the board to me was a very exciting project, and had some cool hours of fun with it.. not only putting it together but also communicating with the people on board.

Thanks all who participated....

ezemeet

My mate Mark ran into a person who was trying to setup a dating site ezemeet.com a view months ago.

ezemeetsreenshotsplash.jpg

ezemeet.com besides the fact its name is so close to ezemeat would be classy and gallantry minded! Nice dresses and feathers, tuxedos and ties with or without the classy masquerade masks.
Based on a logo try from the software house webOmatics, who was ordered to build the engine for the site, ive worked on the splash page to highlight the ambiance we are aiming for.

** content edited on request - maybe we got cached :P

We will continue iron out some small browser issues and now we will start our online journey with vision! There is a great future ahead of us.

Tomorrow morning my flight leaves to Holland, YAY.. I prolly sleep the whole flight, as the last months been very hectic, but looking forward meeting my family and friends back in the Netherlands… Hertog Jan here I come!

Ollies 1st

Cassa (Ally's sister), asked if I could help out creating Oliver's 1st birthday invite. The picture was taken by a professional photographer, and ive stuck the 1 on his shirt, made his eyes look a bit more blue and stuck the party hat on his head. After that I created the balloons from scratch, the mirror effect on the ground and worked on the layout and text.
The design got printed out on glossy paper, and stuck to a blue cardboard, with a nice ribbon through the top, done by the ladies.. very nice end result.
Had to stick this in my portfolio :)

Best Wishes

Best wishes everyone, enjoy my fresh created Xmas card for you all!, its my impression of Santa in Australia :)
I mean its still a weird thing for me, seeing Santa's running around here in high summer, 40 degree weather!, having a barbie (BBQ) with xmas songs on the background.. its my third xmas in Sydney, and dont think I can get used to Santa's in hot weather, but all other ingredients during this time (BBQ's, just couple of beers etc..) are "No Worries"... :)

I’ve send the email version to all commenter’s on this blog during the last years and all people I could think of and everyone I could find in my inbox.
Yes, I thought this is a good opportunity to plug my site, and to break some silences or restore some contacts, with the Xmas spirit attached :)
If you didn’t want to receive any happy Xmas wishes from me/Ally or at all from anyone, I apologize.. pls return my card unopened..he he he.
If you havent got the email, I apologize again.. and grab one from here, its free :P

Otherwise feel free to leave a note in the comment box in return, that’s more then enough, and stay tuned!

Cheers everyone.. have a good one!

Vital v16

I've done quite some versions of the Vital logo, and just before I stopped working there I was upto V16, for some reason none of the versions made the YES statement, all they did was having the WOW effect.
Whether I wasnt capable of creating what they want, or some people just cant make up their minds.. i really dont know.. but i didnt mind as I kept evolving my previous creations.
V16a.jpg
I was told to copy a logo from someone else, but I refuse to do that, that was prolly one of the reasons. These creations are near the example but enough different to be called my own.
V16b.jpg
From all these type of versions I vote for the Half Cup.. just because it gives the orb more view.
V15a.jpg
It was a good exercise, but hope to find another place for these creations, if Vital doesnt pick them.

Havent got the google bot around yet to LOGOBALLS.com.au, but the ninemsn search of Australia already topranks us with search strings like:

logoballs.com.au

Done some updates recently on logoballs.com.au, its going into the right direction with the site.

logoballsv2.jpg

The viewers are from all over the world, which is interesting.
A big customer was already and still is the all famous Reuters! And also the company I work for now Silicon Controls ordered more Golf Gift Packs to hand out to clients!
Now we have to get the online ordering set, as in the order sheets en some more clear workflows towards it untill we can open a online shop, still have to create some more images (TeePacks), then we can attack the actual marketing strategy!
FYI: the image in the header shown in picture i made on Wentworth Falls Golf Course in the Blue Mountains, very nice golf course, very nice weekend up there actually.

FraPer

To fill MyGfx & Portfolio with old work and stories:

I've organized some LANparties in the past, and our LAN group was called LANtasy, the site(tnx to windkracht.nl) (dutch) is still alive i think to see the photo's. We had a super location in Club Vernes on the dancefloor, and a good set of Sponsors to get the party going.
LANtasy was done by me and my mate Frank (ICTSense & host for DUIJNUNDER.com) as organisers of the LANvibe to get the thing going, and LANtasy needed a mascot.. so i created LANtasy's own little wizard, one of my first created character with a purpose in life. The name was therefor already set, Frank + Per = FraPer !

fraper.jpg

LANtasy's Forum (dutch) is still barely hanging out there with FraPer on top of a gr8 chapter in gaming and friends.
Hopefully now I'm in Australia, FraPer and LANtasy still will get revived one day!
Otherwise, my FraPer and LANtasy rest in peace..

Gaslog

gaslogbg.jpg
I'm on a new project at the moment, and it is a very interesting one. I work for a company called Silicon Control, who develop and sell software and hardware to monitor the levels of gas and water tanks etc. In example they sell the products to gas companies whom hold 1 to 100+ and even 1000+ gas stations to measure and maintain the levels of the main tanks, so they can see when to send the truck out for refilling etc.

They’ve got a couple of ways to retrieve the data, by radio transmitter that is hooked up to another device on the phone line, and today I've attended a meeting that showed a great new and flexible technologie to send the data across.
They've developed everything themselves and the products are used all over the world.

My dear friend Wayne (Vision golf balls) told one of our basketball team members what I've done for logoballs.com.au (tnx buddy), and so "Tony" who i've been playing basketball with now for the second season, invited me to his company to see if I can do some work for them.
They have made a program (gaslog) that harvests all the data, and pushes all the info and options forward onto the screen.
And now they are developing a web based version of some services they have for the costumers.
The last couple of days I’ve worked hard to give theirs in asp.net written web application some fresh new looks.

Today I did my presentation on my work, and its an all a "go forward deal".
They are going to use my User Interface (UI) idea for the application. YEAH!
I'm am first off all, most proud to work with these people as they are very knowledgeable and interesting people (all engineers), and also that my work is going to be published onto a great program that will be distributed all over the world.

gaslogpreview.jpg
(sneak preview of my design) To my knowledge also the Dutch based "Primagas" works with their software and hardware. I work closely and very pleasant with Tony as Director of the company and Brian the developer of the program. PS. The top logo image I quickly recreated from the existing gaslog logo as background for my presentation, and now the other director wants to use it to.. lol

logoballs.com.au

logoballs.jpg
Wow.. after some pretty hard work (in my opinion ;), I could finally release my first project!

LOGOBALLS.com.au

The site is about personalising your golf balls, and golf tees but also it provides you some personalised gift packs. This means you can put your name or initials or even a logo on your golf balls or longlife tees.
At the moment you can only print golf balls on this site, and the choise is between the premium brands FANTOM and VISION golf balls, where VISION is having a special story attached for me.. but will tell you when the time is right.

It's not completely finished yet, but we had to put it online as there was a big golf show on this weekend, which I also will tell you more on later..

I completely made the site from scratch, and took all the pictures in there, and made all the artwork and site design plus coding.. it works in firefox, safari and netscape etc browsers , (I must say it works better in firefox vs IE), along with Internet Explorer and is very CSS driven.

logoballs2.jpg

I'll still have to add some pictures, header keywords (google etc) and I do feel that I have to make some processes work more clear and more easy to handle, but so far this non interactive site is pushing its purpose to its very limit!

There are way more things to come, as in online order forms and also in the future this site is going to be hooked up to a central eCommerce solution, but untill then I'll make this one more and more fall in its place.

I'm very pleased with the result, although I really have to finish and tie up some ends to make it work properly.
Feel free to browse it, and I know I still have to do heaps of work on it, if you got some comments pls let me know.

I got this artwork from DJ Arrow, who is part of the loudspeaker.nl collective. DJ Arrow is a breakbeat DJ who along with DJ Hepcat, currently play's alot for FRAGILEBREAKS.nl in Studio 80 in Amsterdam. DJ Arrow got this artwork for their site from a known graffiti artist ("JUICE") in Amsterdam, and I got the great job of digitize them and put some color on them for the website im gonna make..
speakercoloring.jpg
for now I created this SPLASH - PAUSE page from one of the many drawings, and now I started working on the site for LOUDSPEAKER.nl .

LFSs2 Skin+U

After a week of releasing patch T, LFS comes out with the release of patch U that will fix the problems that accured with the former patch.

Ive been driving the F1 Sauber that came with the former patch, and boy o boy thats so kewl.. LFS gets sponsoring by Intel nowadays so they prolly gave the rights to rebuilt the car for LFS, and I'm very very glad they did.
The old V8 F1 (FO8) model was very tricky to drive.. yes it was fast but no traction control and difficult to handle. If I was driving one of the openwheelers, then I would rather drive the Formula Ford/3000 version thats in there (FOX).. less speed but better to drive.

The F1 Sauber is now the fastest car in the pack, but also I must say the most interesting to drive.. and the best looking one! Luckily I'm doing good with the car also on the tracks that I know, and I'm sometimes only half a second slower then the World Record with this car, do bare in mind the finest setups arent developed yet as the car is fairly new.
Also heaps of skins become available, and its almost possible to choose the skin from every team on the 2006 F1 grid.
I was devoloping a skin for me for the FO8 and FOX, but dont think I will drive them that much any more, so I climbed into photoshop again and made myself a nice skin for my new BF1 ! (Sauber F1)

The front with a painted like texture molded into flames to the back! And the back wing has the DUIJNUNDER on it. The front wing has BOO twice on it, one for front view and one to read when u see me in your rearview mirror.. :)
F1f34Rm3frontSMALL.jpg

The back has my patented SEE <> YA ! on the wing ..lol
F1f34Rm3backSMALL.jpg

The cockpit has the little DUIJNUNDER.com text on the sides:
F1f34Rm3cockpitSMALL.jpg

Im going to do some striping in it also, and the sides are pretty empty for some logo's.. so if u want a logo on this car please tell me :)

Dungeon Siege

uksmall.jpg Slowly I will fill the "My GFX" area with some work i've done in the past years that are somehow a bit representable ofcourse.. :). Obviously to show my work but also to build a online portfolio for what ever reference.
This is a piece ive made probably around 2002 or so, when i was setting my teeth into some online photoshop tutorials, trying to find out the wonderfull depth of Adobe Photoshop! I stumbled upon a tutorial using the smudge tool and with drawing some thick lines with the brush first and then whip out the smudge tool and start smudging.. and slowly create something..well tadaa..! This is by far the darkest piece of work i've ever made.. but hey it now forms the base of my hattrick.org football team logo f34Rf4cT0rY.

Vital logo - Evolutie

vitalv4.jpg
