Alright, the total is published.. i'm around 207 players away of grabbing $15.000 :)
I know its a very positive way of putting that, especially my 5700 in chips isnt that much anymore seeing the list, with the contestants left.
Never the less I always do better with less :)

Wish me luck!

**** UPDATE ****
60.000 players total, 1000 finalists all over New South Wales, last top 200 final day.. an hour drive up to the event, and half an hour of total play time in the final for me :( ..
Just couldnt set my mind to play and enjoy poker.. got annoyed and walked into massive hands of my opponents.. boo !

Thats poker too..

Not a next time in a while I think..

Played an APL Pro Poker event last night at Dee Why RSL, $10 buy inn and had 137 players turning up.
Could hold up my game pretty good, even got Quad Jacks on a hand going in with 2.

- little poker story if you want to know what happened -
I had 30.000 in chips with 20 people left of the 140 players, called a 10k ALL-INN bet as I was high connected, but the guy hit his one over card on the river -bad luck-. Then I got the blinds past who were 6000/3000 at that time, so had with 11 ppl to go, only 11k left... I was sitting just before the button (means after me only the dealer and small blind and big blind left so 3 players), I looked Ace Queen.. TOP ranked hand, went All-Inn.. the guy next to me immediately called (dealer).. thought shit im up against pockets (pairs), and of all the hands he could have, he had AK.. (hmm AQ sits next to AK in one deal grrrr) so only the lady (queen) could save me or a far far away flush.. anyway dont count on a woman to save you in this situation, lol.

So anyway good training for this Saturdays final for the NPL, scoring 10th out of 140.
Only bad thing is the quick exit just made me miss the money again! @#$$# !!

Ive made it to day two!
They started at several venues at once and all got 2000 in chips to start with. All venues played until the magic number that fits in 1 venue was reached.

royalflush.jpg

I played in Massey Park Golf Club, and we had about 114 players rocking up.. after 3 hours of playing, what was rather quickly they called it quits, as the magic total number of all players left over several venue was reached.
I played nice and tight, lost 2 hands.. one I folded at the end and the other was against an all-inn for 600 total, so not much damage.. finally on a all inn with A2 suited, I got called by 9-j os, and the flop hit the Jack, but the River game me my Ace..pfieuw
I ended up with 5700 in chips and thats just below average, so I'm going to give it a try in the last day of these finals! I heard that the chip leader had around 30.000 in chips so thats no worries at all.

Hopefully I can play well this Saturday and grab 1st prize in the NSW finals day 2!

Just received a text-message from the National Poker League that i've qualified for the New South Wales Final again.
Normally I would have already known this, but they never updated the last weeks score and I didnt do well on that one, so had to wait till they found the time and effort to share this information!! again slack asses at NPL!

The final is again a two day event, and first day is this Saturday at Massey Park Golf Club ironically, as I had to cancel my golf day for this, and the next one when I make it through to the next day.

Hopefully I can do better this time, I mean im happy to qualify for the third consecutive season in a row, being in the top 5 of our venue but the cards are not sticking with me lately and I've had it a bit with NPL.

So another shot to win the $15.000 dollar first price, or the opportunity to go to a $1.000.000 event, first have to beat probably 800 players.

Tonight we trade our NPL night in to see what Oz Poker Tour has to offer at their Venue in Dundas.

**** UPDATE ****
Just got message from my poker buddy Nick, that the list of qualifiers is online, and watta you know I came 3rd overall just behind Nick who came 2nd !

I've got my poker table finally !! YAY !!

The National Poker League is having a rough time at the moment, but I finally got my last seasons winner prize delivered at home.
Its a very nice and solid poker table, not cheap material and it got its own legs. To bad it has big written PartyPoker.net's ad on it as I never play there, but the rest is very nice.

We just played the last day of this season, and the slack*sses havent updated the site yet, to see if I made this seasons top 5.
I'm currently in 4th position overall again, but didnt put any score in on last day, so still having my fingers crossed if I didnt got passed on the last day.
Normally they are very quick updating the results, but its the last one of this season so they have to screw this up too.

NPL is making a lot of mistakes, and are in a battle with one of their former employer, as he started his own tour (OzPokerTour).
I wont trouble you with all the things NPL was doing wrong before, but now they are in a battle over venues, they finally opened up the marketing channel, and trying to keep their players. This is what they were lacking before (communication).
Maybe one day I will go into detail what goes wrong, but for me getting the table I had to write an angry e-mail to them, to finally stand up and delivering my hard earned prize of the season behind.
Mind you I pointed out some other issues to, but only got response on the table delivery what they have picked up on the spot and delivered within the agreed time and date! WD (well done).

I liked playing for NPL at the venue Carlingford, but things changed and it aint as fun anymore. Ive agreed with some other players that we are going to use next season to try other leagues around like Oz Poker Tours and the Australian Poker Tour etc..

Anyway, hopefully I made it again for the 3rd time in a row to reach the New South Wales final of this league, as Im due for a good game to take another shot at the 15.000$ prize, or the paid seat in a 1.000.000$ tournament. But we have to wait untill they update.. grrrrr

Ow, they put an extra chipset with this table, thats a very nice gesture actually!

Now were am I going to store this prize :)

My poker is still going strong for the NPL, havent seen my poker table yet as first prize overall for last season, but they promise me it will come soon :) right.. Season #4 started of with two blanks , and now the last 4 weeks one 8th place and 3 times 2nd place. Grrr.. 3 times second maybe good for points, and every #1 and #2 go to the weekly final for 1500 bucks 1st prize.. but still 2nd is the first loser.

Also the weekly final that hosts 150 players on friday evening, and top 7 gets paid with first price 1500$ then second 750 and so on.. i tried now 4 times, but no luck at all.. every time just after the 1st break I come in a do or die situation that turns to the latter. U need a couple of breaks to advance in the game.. when they dont come or hit, the blinds (compulsory bets) kill you. I do like the type of play that ppl do.. its way more reserved and not so many cowboys calling gutshots.

So last monday came second again... #$%%###@$l !!! get a second syndrome here.
So I can try again, hopefully I can play a bit now.. but then again, if it aint going well im gonna throw in the towel very soon, as the day after hit off for golf at 5.58 AM.. whut? yep.. 5.58 .. and I love it! Nice and cool in the early morning, and when we are finished before noon!

Busy day tomorrow .. but a very interesting one, 2 of my new aquired hobby's sinds ive come to Australia

Poker (Texas Hold'm) and Golf (As straight as possible :P)

@ 6.30 AM hit off for my second card for the "Corner Club", playing on Warringah Golf Course. Ive played this course before, and hopefully would score a bit better then last score on Northbridge. The course is o so much more forgiving then Northbridge and me the "big driver" can miss a fairway or two without being OB. :)

After that its straight to the poker finals @ freeway hotel Artarmon
This years New South Wales winner for the NPL gets produced by a two day showdown, done the "World Poker Tour" way.

There are 8 venues, and they all play till the magic number of the day is reached. As these tourneys are like every other knockout based without rebuys, after hours of play there is a final, lets say 400 left from I think atleast 1200 finalists. Then they say.. STOP PLAYING, and they do a chip count. I believe every1 starts with 2000 in chips.. and you just have to survive the day with that to reach the final day.
Because there are more venues that play you have more top 5's of those venues that are participating. Last season it was around 800 finalist of NSW (600 turned up).
The blinds (compulsory bets, every one gets at his/her turn) will go up every half hour i guess.

My game is a bit unfortunate at the moment, so hopefully I'll find some more live cards tomorrow!
Im sure I'll have to fight the sleep, after a full round of golf, so I've got my W800i walkman phone armed with a 2GB memory stick, loaded with kewl traxx and some poker also to kill the time when not getting good cards to play :)

**** UPDATE ****

Hmm.. as excited as the day was, ended pretty non rewarding.. put another bad card in for golf, but hey.. better then NorthBridge, and towards the end I did play 5 pars in a row.
So the good thing about a bad card, is when they estimate my handicap, and I start playing a bit more how I think.. watch this, how I THINK :) i can play, prolly win the comp every week for a little while :)
But Im better of laying that to rest, cuz this aint really cards im proud of.. grr
After that I barely made the poker event, every1 was already started but they fit me in.
In my first two hands I took one guy out, he must be livid.. I mean here is this dude rockin up late then the first two hands I take him out.
After that I stayed alive not gaining and slightly loosing till the last 50 of the 180 were left.
They already announce they gonna do the stop at 43 players left, and they would go to the next day.
I lost one little hand, so I was back to 2500 in chips.. I figured, when I go to the other event I wanna go bigger then 2500 in chips, as its a 1.5 hour drive to that Sunday event... plus I can't play golf that morning, I wanted to make it a bit more worth while.
I pulled another guy in my "all inn" as the flop connected me with the 10 and there was already 7000 in the pot, so this was it... yes or no.
The river came (last card), another diamond (4 diamonds on the board).. giving every one with a diamond the flush, so despite being leader from flop till fourth turn, my jack of diamonds wasnt enough as my opponent had the queen.
Unlucky but thats poker.. and quite honestly, thats my game at the moment... making the most out of any situation I can think of, then getting booted on a situation like that.
My mate Nick, who came 2nd in Carlingford made the decision to stay in.. so did a couple of others of the venue I play in.. I wish them good luck.

The good thing is I guess they got my poker table ready as they asked for my address to ship it too :)

#1 Season #3 @ Venue Carlingford

I've made it, after starting playing poker half way during season #2 ranking top 5. I am now venue winner of season #3 at Carlingford Bowlingclub for the National Poker League.
That is 3 months playing "Texas Holdem" every monday competing against total 260 players, not all played every monday tho, would say 50-60 loyal competitors.

carlingford.jpg

The venue winners get an original poker table, but i've heard that last season’s winner still is waiting for his :(
So wont get my hopes up on that one..

But I do get a seat in the final again like last time, with 15.000$ first prize or paid seat with flight and acc. in one of worlds biggest poker events like the WPT.

Let you know when it comes up!
Not bad start after a fab weekend at Indy.. will post on that one later, working on some photo's.

Here are my stats
